The 4th Magic: The Gathering World Championships were held in Seattle, WA, between August 12 and 16, 1998. The decks of the top eight players were printed with gold borders. Brian Hacker (USA) finished 7th.

This was the last time Disenchant was played main in a top finisher constructed deck at the World Championships. Subsequently, it would rather become an occasional sidebord card and was often inserted in beginners products (like M11 sample decks, Fate Reforged clash packs, and other Starter Decks).
